Funeral Arrangements for Rebecca

This is Richard writing again (Andy's brother).
The memorial service and burial will be held on Tuesday, August 23 at 11:00 am at Fernwood Cemetery in Mill Valley. Please watch this blog in the interim in case there are any changes.
If you are attending and able to car pool that will help the parking situation, and the planet.
The Cemetery is an "eco-cemetery" and does not have groomed paths. Although the cemetery staff try to clear away poison oak from the area of the grave, there may be some remaining. Please take care when walking for both these reasons. This may also inform your choice of footwear and clothing.
As mentioned before, no flowers please - a list of charities to which donations can be made in Rebecca's memory and honor will be posted on this blog.
Shiva will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, August 23, 24, and 25 in Berkeley. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 pm; a brief Ma'ariv ("evening") service and sharing of memories will take place each evening at 7:00 pm.

Andy, Alastair and I are thinking of you soo much. I absolutely heard your voice in my head reading your blog entry about you and the kids. Thank you for making me smile when I have only wanted to cry. Its so painful not to be there at this time. It feels like far more than ocean between us. I hate not going to the funeral. I hate not going to the shiva. I hate this distance, but that's what it is, unfortunately. I had to get my thoughts out and wanted to share them with you and Ravi and Ze'ev. I sent it to Rebecca's email , and as a message to your facebook account. You may like Brian or someone to read it at the funeral, you may like to include it in the memorial book if you are going to have one. You may like to stick it in the toilet. Its yours to do with what you like. I love you very much, Andy. Peace my dear friend.

My thoughts are with all my family over there completely. I truly wish that circumstances would allow me to be there for all of this.

My love goes out to all and am there in my spirit through my mum and sister as much as projected over the distance.

I miss my Aunty Rebecca so much.

Lots of Love Jake

Andy, deepest of sympathy and my and my families heart goes out to you and your family. I know we have only know each other on a professional level, but I do feel as thought you are becoming a close friend, and I wish that I could give you a hug and say I'm sorry. Maybe next time I see you, so you have now been warned.

Andy: you don't know us...but Ze'ev and my son Shayne were in Nancy's laurel creek class together at TBS for 1 year. Ze'ev was a 3rd year and shayne was the new boy in the class.

Ze'ev was a very welcoming and kind presence to Shayne : ); Something i often think of and am very grateful for.

I am so sorry that Ze'ev and his sister have lost the earthly presence of their Mom....and you have lost your lovely wife.

Altho i did not know Rebecca, I cry for her and her family.

Life is a difficult, often cruel journey, especially when you lose someone you need and love so much....please wrap your children up in a big blanket of love and squeeze them tightly.

warmest regards, lisa (shayne's mom)

I am loving Rebecca and your family from my couch,
sitting by the glow of the candle you guys made for me at the holidays a few years ago. I still have it because I only light it on very special, sacred occasion. When I first got it in my hands I felt like it was a special, powerful object. I felt the EXACT same way about Rebecca the first time I met her. What a beautiful person. I am so glad I was able to experience her in all of her motherly awesomeness even when she wasn't feeling so awesome. I love Ze'ev very much and will be there for him in whatever way he needs or wants when he returns to school. Love and peace to you all.

Hi, I am Viji, Uma and Jaya's mom, from 4th and 5th grade in Strawberry Creek. I just heard of Rebecca's leaving us. Thank you for sharing the blog with all of us. I am crying inside and outside. She was and still is ( in our wonderful memories of her) a beautiful woman who was utterly serious and funny all at the same time. I felt a deep kinship with her, though we met only casually around the kids' drop off and pick up times. I met Rebecca at the first camping trip nearly two years ago in Strawberry Creek. We really hit it off from the beginning and laughed a lot and talked serious at the same time. I felt her spirit deeply and will always. Please give Za'ev a big hug from our family to yours. Uma says hi.

our hugs,
